Dr. Bethany Lisi will deliver an interactive keynote on curiosity in teaching and learning on July 14 from 9:00–10:30 a.m. via Zoom.
Designed as an engaging and participatory session, the keynote will explore how curiosity can be intentionally cultivated in the classroom and incorporated into course design to create more meaningful learning experiences for students. The session will conclude this year’s Online Course (Re)Design cohort experience; however, the Zoom event is open to all faculty and educators interested in joining the conversation.

Dr. Lisi serves at the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she works with faculty on student-centered teaching approaches, course design, assessment, visual thinking, metaphors, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Since joining the CTL in 2017, she has facilitated workshops, consultations, and faculty development initiatives focused on experimentation and innovation in teaching and learning.
In addition to her faculty development work, Dr. Lisi has taught first-year seminars and graduate courses in higher education, including fully online courses and seminars centered on curiosity and visual thinking. Her research and presentations focus on faculty development, student success, well-being through course design, and creative approaches to teaching and learning.
Dr. Lisi earned her bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations and her master’s degree in education from the University of Rhode Island. She received her Ph.D. in education with a specialization in higher education and faculty development from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
