About the Program
The New Faculty Scholars (NFS) program integrates several professional development opportunities to enhance new faculty success by increasing their knowledge of Auburn’s institutional culture and supporting interdisciplinary mentoring and informal networking opportunities.
The New Faculty Scholars program is one of the longest-running and most successful professional development programs on campus. NFS prepares faculty for immediate and long-term success at Auburn by orchestrating learning opportunities and collaborations with inter- and intra-disciplinary colleagues, tenured and early career faculty, and key administrators in Research and Economic Development, Libraries, Undergraduate Research, the Provost’s Office, and other campus units. Faculty participating in the program rate it highly, citing that it improves their preparedness and success in future leadership roles within their department and the wider academic community. In addition to attending monthly lunch-and-learns with the full group, NFS faculty also participate in small cohort Colleague Circles led by a pair of faculty mentors.
This program is for tenure-track faculty, clinical faculty, and lecturers within the first two years of their employment at Auburn University. Colleagues accepted into the program have secured department chair approval and commit to about three hours per month participating in activities and network opportunities designed to maximize new faculty success
