TIGER Tech Leaders: First Light

November 06, 2026 | 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM | Microsoft Teams (virtual)

Join us for a live demonstration of First Light, an AI-powered tool developed by Dr. John Nash of the University of Kentucky, and then try it yourself at a hands-on working session on November 20. Designed to help educators rethink assignment design and student learning, First Light offers faculty and staff an opportunity to explore how AI can support instructional design, improve learning experiences and encourage more intentional approaches to teaching and learning. Dr. Nash will demonstrate the tool and share insights into its potential applications in higher education.

Facilitators: Katelyn Nelson and Hannah Carroll

Presenter: Dr. John Nash, University of Kentucky

Next Step: First Light Working Session, Open to All

Friday, November 20, 2026 | 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. CT | Microsoft Teams (virtual)

Seeing First Light in action is step one. Step two is trying it on your own work. This 45-minute working session is part of the First Light pilot with TIGER Tech Leaders, and it is open to all Auburn faculty and staff, whether or not you are a TIGER Tech Leaders member. It is a great way to get a feel for the community and learn how to join. You will:

  • Try First Light with one of your own assignments
  • Talk through your experience together with colleagues and the facilitators

How it works

  1. Register using the button below.
  2. Watch your inbox for a brief survey and instructions for trying First Light before November 20.
  3. Come ready with an assignment you would like to rethink.

Can't make it live? The session will be recorded. First Light is free to use and does not require an account.
